A Winter's Kiss

A Winter's Kiss

A diamond glittered carpet frost

upon the ground at early dawn

awakes the earth begins the day

a shimmering caress of nature's hand

The bitter chill upon your face

alights your cheeks with ice cold flush

lungs aspire to deeper depths

exale a mist of silvery breath

A robin plump with brest of red

rests on a branch that's bare and still

scarlett berries in hedgerow glow

like gaping sparrows tiny hearts

Cobwebs drape best dress the trees

a vision of silky crochet lace

ice creates in secret spots

to surprise footsteps abound

Icy wind so quiet and raw

bites through land and bones

whispers to the sky "be sure"

to deliver a season's guilty pleasure

Clouds above now dense and grey

promise of a first flake of snow

to fall and meet the awaiting earth

and preciously lay as 'Winter's Kiss'

WOW!! Wendy, that is a stunning piece of poetry. It reads beautifully aloud. A very well written and well thought through piece and a stunning picture that gives me the chills just looking at its beauty. We had our first flash of snow today, thankfully it didn`t stick!!

Well done honey, I really enjoyed this piece.

Love G xx

Ah I love it!ย Iย have to pin this one!ย Great take on a Winter observation, loved it! Cheered me up in an instant....I could just feel the fresh crisp air going into my lungs! I adore Winter......enjoyed this take on it! So far our Autumn here in West Virginia has been teasing us! We have had extremely warm and balmy days until this past week....evenings and nights down almost to thirty! The air smells so clean and crisp! I love it! Winter and Autumn are my favorite seasons. I love reading poetry about winter. It is so bold and beautiful! Thank you for writing this one! Have a blessed week ahead!ย ย ย ย ย  Paula
