A Woman, A Lover, A Friend

Over a quarter of a century ago, I was searching for a girl;
Who could light my extinguished fires, and my knotted life unfurl!
First, I would have to feel her friendship, to put my heart at ease;
With softened words of passion, my angst she’d need appease!

Of course, she would have to be beautiful, my standards very high;
I would need to be attracted, to give our love a try!
Then, when I least expected it, I spotted a woman lovely true;
The night that I first met her, I knew my quest was through!

We danced and talked for hours, and parted with a kiss;
The next night, I could not wait for, because her I really missed!
It took but only four days, for us to ever pledge our love;
We’d finally found our Soulmates, a gift from stars above!

Twenty-six joyous years later, we are still by each other’s side;
When we are out among the people, our love can't be denied!
We cling to each other closely, with passion that all can see;
Two scintillating song-birds, who were ever meant to be!
