"Abaddon Noir" Angelic Wine

"Abaddon Noir" Angelic Wine

Lips a flame smeared in sanguine rouge

Closing her eyes in sweet anticipation she sips

The torrid wine as if it were a sacrament

Savoring the taste and quivering salaciously.

A full-bodied wine acclaimed for its uniqueness

Its fruit birthed in virgin soil mystically nurtured.

The liquid purple-black and layered with rare

Scents and flavors aged to a slight effervescence

With a distinctive gravelly minerality to the taste.

Yet it has an ethereal delicacy with surprising density.

A complex vintage streaked in smoked meat, tar,

Wild herb and leather giving it a flirty pungent note.

The wine is named for the vineyard in which it was made:

“Abaddon Noir”… the infernal abode of Diabolus,

And bottled in the clear brilliance of celestial tears

Collected from angels before their bodies are fermented

Into the most intoxicating mixture of blood and flesh.

The slogan on the label reads: “From Hell to Your Table!”.

Valerie Beasley...

Thanks Tina for your wonderful comments. Honestly, I think my wording comes from reading poets like Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Sylvia Plath and Pablo Neruda.  One can't help but be influenced by ones favorite writers.
