Poem -

Abducted

A young boy

Just five years old

Went missing today

Taken by a woman

Bearing wings of an angel

But she brings no saving grace

Tonight his parents had to walk past his door

Knowing he is not in his bed

Their baby is out there in the world alone

With a monster that really is there

Will they find this little boy soon?

I shiver to think

What if she gets away?

I'm filled with a mother's rage

This isn't okay

His family will not sleep tonight

Nor will they until he comes home

*Note: This was inspired by a true story.  He went missing this morning, abducted by his noncustodial mother, and was presumed to be in grave immediate danger.  Happily, this particular child was found safe and sound.  This is often not the case, though.  This goes out as a salute to the parents who cannot tuck their babies into bed tonight.

So sad that some feel the need to take what is not theirs. Children are so special and when yours is missing...sleep does not come easy. Good poem, sad subject! Good job, Anthony

thank you!  I can't imagine surviving the first night if my child was missing!  I'm so glad it wasn't mine and I'm so glad this story ended happily!

Valerie Beasley...

Yes, we hear about children taken from its parents by someone (a crazy person) way too often.  I don't know if I'd would have survived the incident.  My daughter is now a mother and my grandchild is very precious to me.  Thanks for bringing this issue to the light as a reminder.

I don't think I'd survive it either!  I'd prolly go to jail for murder if anyone ever tried to take my kid...

Thanks for your comment, Val!  I hope you have an awesome day and a Merry Christmas!

Thank you!  I feel very passionate about child safety.  It's one of the few things I feel would justify capital punishment.  You did a good job helping me to think in ways of MSG writing.  The grasshopper listens
