Accusation

Do you remember the time when there were voices in your head,
When all they ever told you was about the tragedies of butter
And the silver spheres singing lines from songs so old
You couldn't even recognize that it was music?
Do you remember the time when Thy put a sword in your hand
And They swung it around so roughly it ripped the skin from your arms?
And you might perhaps remember the time when
That sword hit the rabbit across the ears and sliced its hearing
So that its brain rung with waves it couldn't absorb.
And the people screamed and screamed at you until
Your hands began to shake like a volcano about to erupt
But you'd never drop that sword
(It wasn't you, it was Them)
And the people would riot as if you were their king,
Because you had murdered a nation through that rabbit
And you had choked the life from the flowers
And the light from the sun
But really
It was Them.
And you swore it was Them because
You would never kill the sound
You would never stall the loud
You wouldn't make them rage and shout
Like this.
It wasn't you.
(It was Them).
