Poem -

One Day, I Woke Up and was a Fish

One day, I woke up and was a fish
Ginger-gold and floating in an airless sphere
There were no bubbles, contrary to belief,
Only contemporary-victorian togetherness
Adorning the brazen crown I ate
And strange to find, I had no hair
Dark locks short of lying down
Not broken on the iron floor
But aurelian in the dusky sky
And Akwar's heart, plagues,
Just miles from my own tiny, beating muscle
His soul and mine no longer joined
My deepest nightmare
Writing over his coal skin
He would be a scuttling crab,
Blue as the raven's moon
And blue as the Willow's eye,
A crushed sapphire, shattered and laughing
But enough of that true longing
Remind yourself, Jenivive,
You are a little scaled thing
Commonly, a water mouse
Foreignly, a phoenix
A flaming mouth studded with pearl catacombs
And before all that,
You are one with a certain beg
Where nothing would be worse
Than a tornado of honey,
The first flight of an ounce of a plane
Suddenly, you are Reminded
You look all over and grin as wide as the ocean
You are no more the breastless lady
You are no more the hatred you nearly died for
You are no more such sad insecurities
As such a creature, such pain is gone, such joy!
This is how the worldview should extend,
How ripping wood should taste
And yet here we cannot remain
Without one's other half
Such dilemna, such fear, such oddity
His pen provokes the stare of the purest evil
Where mine tells a tale lesser told
His adorned with dragons and queens
Mine, stalkers and murderers
So we wait, impatient to find if my pen
Shall ever write
