ACHILLES TONE

Shall we

pronounce guilt on ourselves

and let the hammer fall

on our sentence quarantined

by the extensions of our decisions?

We cannot pour back

the blood of a sacrificial lamb

or pay a penance

because we did not flagellate

the evil heart within us.

The demonic eyes whose tears

were not

will continue

to feed from the trough of life

for in the lessons they are two fold

as reason

goes beyond pain and thirst.

Shall we

have a contest of guilt

and manufacture shame

by direct proxy

or allure ourselves into believing

that the word

forgiveness does not exist?

Stranger of the G-d word

I resend back

the tone of your ambitions

perhaps reunite you with God

gaining wings

by poetic value is your game.

I am far too old to play

a continuous loop

so this will be my last.

To match

intelligence with intelligence

is an absurd coin uncashable.

I expect

that the vendor will cease

for I cannot

be guilty for change has expired.
