Poem -

addiction

Whispers from a serpents lips,

Beg the hurt to indulge,

To bite the earth’s fruit,

No kiss awaits their fate,

Without its presence,

I can cope,

Through gritted teeth,

And clenched fists,

The apple, the darkness,

Pain,

It consumes,

To stand strong as the knives pierce you,

Leave you, forget you,

To plead,

As tears of hopelessness flow,

To hold the cliffs edge by a finger,

To pray but never ask,

I let go,

I fall,

Deeper and deeper,

The air burns as I drop to an endless hole,

The waves engulf me,

The rocks show no mercy,

Blue to black,

My heart sinks too,

A titanic with no survivors,

Unseen,

But by one,

They observe the missing fruit,

As they reach for the other.
