ADULTERY
Sometimes we're slain, left yearning
Like aΒ DemigodΒ in pain
Anxious, that the witching hour approaching
Blinds us to that which is sacrosanct
Bleeding inside for the anticipated
Angry about that which can't be debated
The pastor has spoken, you're tainted
Everyone knows you've sinned
You've committed adultery, you're painted
You know it was love, you would do it again
The inexplicable has somehow occurred
And entirely consumed your self-worth
Amid the timbrels
And retribution's resort
A plethora of pariah-whisperers
Parishioners whispering in anger
Or for simple blood-sport
That which is untamed inside
That feral piece of the human soul
That rises to the surface in dire times
That survival instinct that can't be controlled
These we must cling to when life is most grave
Or we may not live, to taste happiness again...

Really great piece, looking through the eyes of those who cast judgment.... adultery creates lack of trust between family, yet the outside world condems too...a blood sport as you say....or maybe just gossip which creates possibly more shame than needs be...nobody looks at the circumstances around...just the actual "sin"
