Adulthood

Adulthood

do you feel that you have been dishonored and me destroyed

some things that were said I cannot avoid

my conscience is clean of the judgment cast

perhaps the memory of your words will not last

please remember how I tried to be the best I could

you intruded and infested my life when I did not feel you should

Judgments are easy for you to toss my way

but I feel you have made them to cause dismay

I try, try, try and it is never enough

this adulthood stuff is difficult and tough
