Adventures In Paradise

Adventures In Paradise

My Junior and Senior years in high school, I had a favorite show;
It took place in beautiful Tahiti, to there I dreamed I’d go!
It was called “Adventures In Paradise, it’s star was Gardner McKay;
He had a vessel named the Tiki, that people would charter for many days!
.
I thought after I graduated, I could buy a big boat too;
Then sail off to the South Seas, and find love so very true!
I fantasized about a beautiful Tahitian, with hair down to her knees;
Who would become my loving Soulmate, and we’d sail across the seas!
.
I even went to a large boat show, checking out the possibilities;
Of shoving off for Tahiti, and doing whatever I damn well pleased!
But eventually, my pipe dream ended, no Paul Gaugin would I become;
It was off to College of the Hard Knocks, for a life much more hum-drum!
.
.
                                       Oh dear Tahiti
                            I almost came for true love
                                But my ship ne’er left

Dear Greg,

I was only seventeen when I started dreaming about sailing off to Tahiti.  I think I was also influenced in 1962, when I saw the movie "Mutiny On The Bounty" with Marlon Brando playing Fletcher Christian.  I read that he fell in love with the Tahitian actress that starred in the film, and married her.  So, I dreamt of doing the same.  It probably would not have worked out anyway, because I'm sure the bounding waves of the ocean would have made me seasick.

Love,

Hi dear Larry...It is good to have dreams and visionary goals in life to keep us motivated...You maybe did not get to sail off into paradise...but you created a life of your own that suits you well...I have always been a dreamer and I thin it is what keeps me sane sometimes in a world that can let me down sometimes..  Thanks for sharing.  Love n Hugs, xo

Dear Cherie,

Dreams are so wonderful, especially if they come true.  In this one, I was only seventeen, and after seeing "Mutiny On The Bounty", starring Marlon Brando, and all those beautiful long-haired Tahitian women, I decided, that I would love being there, and finding the woman of my dreams.  I did not realize, that would not happen until thirty years later.  So instead of a South Sea Tahitian beauty, I ended up with a  South Shore Bostonian one.

All my love,
Larry xxx
