The Adversary

A great wrong has been done and they must pay.

It would not be acceptable any other way.

We pick up our weapons, we are off to war.

For we are not kids anymore.

They are the enemy no doubt about that.

We are so different so there is no other way.

We all heard stories about those people over there.

Worshipping their god and living as they do.

We arrive on the battlefield.

For they must pay.

Because there could be no other way .

I look at the enemy and what do I see.

I see mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters who live across the sea.

And when I look at the adversary I could just not believe.

Because what I am looking at is me.

I look around and see what hate and violence caused.

I turn to my comrades and say.

There really must be some other way.
