African Americans

African Americans

You built what others couldn't.
You scratched life from dirt.
You survived daily devastation's.
You did this happily while you sang.
How you survived I can not fathom.
The strength you showed made many weep.
They wept out of anger that you could not be broke.
They wept out of pride in your courageousness.
We were forever changed from our interactions.
You have nothing left to prove.
I know your worth.

I appreciate the views on this poem........I was not going to post it because I didn't know how it would be taken but the acknowledgment of our African Americans has been long over due..........perhaps acknowledging these things can help heal old wounds.........I only mean respect with this peace.......a little double entendre for my intellectual peers.............
