Keep It Simple

“Simplicity isn’t mercy; it’s the fear of standing out as what God made.”

Keep It Simple

Keep It Simple

Why?

Does God command the daffodil to hide her brilliant color?
Does He demand the maple stay green forever?
Does He hide the sun behind the moon on every rising?
Does He order the stars to dim in the vast expanse of heaven?

Then why should we simplify the telling of a story?
Why should we simplify the sharing of His glory?
Why should we dumb it down—
to keep the brain from thinking?

God demands we tell the truth
in all our worldly doings.
God demands we share
the glory of His coming.

God demands everything—
from breath at life,
to gasp at death.

And if we wish to honor Him,
God demands we be our best.

So keep it simple?
Dumb it down?
Not with an ounce of charity.

For God sees the widow in filthy rags,
the child starving on rotten bread,
the man broken from falling off the ladder—

He sees all of this
and measures the heart,
not the polish of the hand.

Yet woe to the one
who buries his talent
for fear of the minds of men.

Let the world keep its white-washed walls—
I’ll keep the color of His creation.

Why?
