Was it really true? No, just myths - for what reason,
more pointedly, if it was necessary - why not do
the business with a snap of the heavenly fingers,
perhaps it had to be geographical, not just magical.

Meanwhile, none of the fish died, swimming alongside,
if there were 'baddies' in Noah's family, they escaped drowning,
maybe others had to be fended off with a boat-hook,
but this ship was progressing by means, whatever it took.

The arguments continued - two snakes were like sycophants,
giraffes took the high ground over silly elephants,
pandas started nibbling at the bamboo mast, at last
land was sighted, by a nice pair of doves which everyone loves.

Any test was pointless, we'd all end up doing the same again,
like now, should have got it right first to remove all of the pain.
