Poem -

The Afterlife Through The Eyes of a Self Hater

Lying so still.
Concealed from the chaos all around.
Trapped in your own mind,
Forever.

You break away from your static state,
Only for a moment,
And make out some of the words,
That people are saying.

Compliments and praises ring out
From the unaware lips.
Unaware of what
You really were.

You were heartless and vain.
Selfish and lazy.
Pathetic and malicious.
No one to love or be loved by.

But according to these strangers,
Who ‘knew you so well’,
You were a saint,
A battle scarred champion.

If they only knew,
What you know now,
They wouldn’t pay you many respects
You’re only lovely when you’re dead.
