Aged to Perfection

1) Dull, green, unappealing plant. A weed.
How they looked when they first entered
the green, damp Earth. Their attitudes stern. Their look passionless.
My hope, though, not lost.
5) As the days rolled on, pink, luscious
flowers sprouted out of their thick, rugged leaves.
A sign of hope.
These bushels, inauspicious at first, revealed their alluring,
charming beauty to my very eyes. I was overcome with reassurance.
10) My plants, hopefully, would produce fruit.
Days became weeks. Curious of itโs creation,
I revealed, to my excitement, several green,
miniature berries coated with seeds.
Anticipation engulfed my soul.
15) I was animated to realize that what started as ugly,
impassive bushels would produce savory clusters of joy in due time.
Weeks passed and the time finally arose.
The green, unripe nuggets transformed to
beautiful, red, like blood, berries. Into my rugged hands, I snacthed them.
20) Their color, bursting with life and beauty. Their smell, so sweet,
making my mouth water like Niagara Falls.
I was in shock.
As I finally popped one of these nuggets, these
seed covered berries, in my mouth, a sense of joy fulfilled me.
25) The journey was over. My wish come true.
I now look at my garden again, only to witness the array
of another harvest approaching. The red clumps of berries.
The once, long ago,
green bushels filled with no emotion, would soon produce
30) the scarlet goodness of Strawberries.
