A flicker of light in a forest of dark

It ignites by the power of grace

You felt good at last

Like one who almost died in a dark frenzy

You were guarded but at ease that day

You were in orbit

You buried the darkness as deep as you could

You put out light as best as you could

But you were drowning

In your eyes a thousand stories could be seen

I wanted to love you more and more

But I was scared to

It was painful for both of us in the end

The tremors that shook us still haunt us

But it was worth it

We stare into each other, watching for pain

I see the truth, a truth that I love

I understand you

You are layered and lost and found and in love

And I love you more than you could know

I am not afraid.
