Alcohol (I'll stay in my room)

I'll stay in my room, I won't move around,
I won't say a word, then I cannot be found.
If he cannot see me, I'll be safe tonight,
If he cannot hear me, then there'll be no fight.
The cupboards are banging, he's searching for more.
The contents are clattering all over the floor.
I hear his voice roaring "where's my bloody drink".
He's forgotten, he's drunk it, now he'll kick up a stink.
His footsteps come clambering fast up the stairs,
I crouch in the corner trembling with fear.
He's red with rage and he crashes through my door,
Picks me up like a rag doll and throws me back to the floor.
His foot hits my stomach as he calls me bad names
Then starts smashing my room up it's always the same.
And when he tires of cursing and terrorising me.
He leaves, walks away to find the nearest licensee.
I know he can't help it. It's an illness they say,
But I can't wait till I'm grown so I can leave some day.
I want to feel safe when I sleep in my bed.
I'm sorry, I love him but I wish he was dead.
