" ALEXANDRIA'S BURNING "

Tell me what you're thinking of, when you're far away from me
And i'll tell you what I'm dreaming, that makes me feel so free
There's a strange consideration, that toll the bells for my inner sanctuary
It's a romantic conflagration, burning in my soul......

When I think of you, alone, at night, I search through Alexandria's treasures
I can see it in my mind, the rows of books, and all the answers
From Descartes to the scrolls, the gallery's still inspire
There's a compelling ambience, NO! the buildings not on fire
But my love for you has me searching the Spirituality section
Where the many priests of old, have their insights and reflections
Bound in leather and lettered in italics for the world to read
I read your mind through their words, sparkling in Gold Leaf
I come to a passage on "Considering Love" and it speaks to my soul
It tells me that when I find HER, I must relinquish all control
And leave it in the hands of God, for Love's a mystery
That can't be solved, just his creation, utter simplicity
And as I turn the page, the library speaks to me
"My friend, here's fair warning, Alexandria's Burning!"
But I cannot take my eyes away from this book of love
And so I place a scarf across my face, and I just keep on reading
But the voice screams again, "Alexandria's Burning!"
And soon the smoke begins to tear at my eyes
But I keep on reading, this special phrase of meaning
"When your love is truly yours, you will feel your soul on fire
and that's the time you pray to God and thank him for desire!"
And so I do, I also thank him for allowing me into this house of learning
When all is said and done, the dream is done and "Alexandria's Burning!"
