Poem -

Alive you were

Alive you were
Light in your eyes
Beautiful eyes that sparkled in all the photos they released
Photos taken with love
Photos full with hope of life to come

I saw happiness standing there
So beautiful you were, so alive

Untill you weren’t
Untill a man with dark intentions crossed your path

He took you
Robed you of your 30s, 40s
Of babies
Of great loves
Robed you of your family, friends
Robed  you of your life, your right to be human
To have your say and to live life as you chose

You were taken without your consent, in an age of consent
In an age of rage about brutality

You went through that which no one should ever have to go thorough
Though to many have before you and will doubtless after you

So sorry sweet girl
I watched
I hoped

And wept when they found you
