All Wings In Moderation
So, Gabriel cocked a wing looking towards me,
'John, you know what's good for you don't you?
Not too much meat, not so good for the heart,
no smoking, not too much drinking - for a start.
Lots of exercise, do some games - good for the mind,
take a break, get out there - do something one kind,
be generous, don't just think of yourself mon ami,
do as you would do unto others - don't you just see?'
'Listen, my feathery friend, why are you so dull?
It's alright for you, just floating slowly around,
you live forever - I'm stuck here on the ground,
expect me to live in a corner without a sound.
So, I'm eating my meat, even committing adultery,
pathetic - you don't know what you're missing mon ami.'

Hi,
What does, "mon ami." mean?
I want to write you a review, but I'd like to see if you can stir me in the right direction. Also, what was the inspiration for your poem?
Hope you don't mind me asking you about the poem. I like to know what I'm reading, before I write a review. Some metaphors go straight over my head and into the fish pond. :)
Thanks
Katina
Thanks Katina - 'mon ami'
means my friend in french.
Inspiration - how mamy times do we hear 'do all things in moderation,' so I progressed it to a 'level.'
Thank you, Terry. It's much clearer now. The moderation thing, I have not mastered. Wonderful narrative. I re-rated.
When I first started writing reviews here, I wasn't sure what to rate a poem or story. I'm working on my critique skills, It takes a great deal of practice.
Have a great day.
Thanks Karina.
