Poem -

ALMOST SIXTY

I can see it

Life fading with each sunset

I can feel it

My zeal dripping through the cracks

My sprint has come to a crawl

My voice cracking

And once sparkling brown eyes

Without glasses, can't see at all

Oh how my bones ache bad

Pain never before felt or had

Three flights of stairs

Seems like a mountain to climb

Its so difficult to recall day and time

My mind plays tricks on me

Saying you can be what you want to be

But old age reminds me

There are consequences

In the face of stupidity

So on my cane I lean

Wrinkled bald and afraid

I used to look forward to the new day

But turning sixty has gotten in the way

After all, it was at age fifty

That my older brother passed away.
