Alone on Halloween

Alone on Halloween
The night was one for cuddling by the fire
In the air were spooks and goblin attire
Spiders, witches and bloodied ghouls
We saw fiery pumpkins and costumes so cruel
We saw silhouetted bats in a blood moon sky
Where Frankenstein figures with ghosts with one eye
They were vampires who were out to blood suck
We huddled by the fire with blankets well tucked
Knocks on the door made us all frightfully feel
There may be a wizard casting spells for real
They were all for treats and maybe some tricks
Or maybe some children with playful sword sticks
Black green eyed cats were off for a howl
And hunchbacked monsters who would give us a scowl
And the most ghastly thing that came and went
Was our landlord coming for the rent
