Alone part 1

Alone she sits, her tears unheard her tiny heart still bleeds. Disappeared her daddy's hand, to cross the road she needs. Just yesterday a fairytale, her hero strong and kind. The faintest smell of cigarettes still lingers to remind. Her tiny hands placed on her cheeks, blue eyes like his shut tight. remembers how his stuble scratched with every kiss goodnight. Her king, his princess golden days, the limit was the sky. Now alone, she lays awake and preys he hear her cry. Alone a boy in fathers shoes, still craves the city lights. Cheap whiskey shots to greet the sun, champagne drenched summer nights. Darkness, drugs and alcohol replace his daily grind, search in vein to heal the pain, something he'll never find. He tries to drown past skeletons, yet bleeds though his disguise. Last drinks called, the faces gone. With head in hands he cries. Alone the years eroded fast, a dog, a brand new dad. Never could a man alive replace the one she had. Her mum's first love now crystal meth, nocturnally survives Sleeping with the local trash, and men of other wives. Turning tricks, a pin cushion, she breathes for her next hit, blinded to her daughters tears or just don't give a shit. A smile inside a photo frame, reflection of her own clutched to her chest, that's all he left. Still waiting cries alone. Alone he fights to gain control, while slowly his leaf turned. The hardest part is going back to find your bridged burned. A bullet squeezed between his teeth, he boards the midnight train. Nothing left to leave behind, ahead so much to gain. This boy now strives to be a man, a father like his own preys tonight, he'll her tight. so none cries Alone.

Drew, wow, what a poignant poem from beginning to end. So many hard lessons learned, so many ignored, and the overall atmosphere of regret. This really touched me..the idea layed out in the conclusion that Someone, in this case the father, was standing up and taking responsibility. Though fearful of how he will be received, he has the courage to turn that leaf. Really great writing and deeply meaningful!
