I may not be the hands you place your heart on,  

Or the one who stands each time the world knocks you down.  

I may not come bearing a bouquet of promises—  

But I can be the one, right here, right now.  

Let me hold your hand,  

Look into your eyes,  

Your chin resting on the tip of my fingers—  

And whisper, *“I love you in this moment.”*  

Let me wrap my arms around you from behind,  

Rest my head gently on your back,  

And in silence say, *“I care—right now.”*  

I’ll rub your knees softly during midnight drives,  

Windows down, city lights dancing,  

And assure you—you’re safe with me.  

I may not promise forever,  

But I promise to love you completely,  

In this moment.
