Alzheimers

Alzheimers

I’d say it was 3 years ago,
from what I can recall,
that I met a fellow close to me,
i think his name was Paul.Ā

After thinking on it harder,Ā
I’d say his name was Al.
we met about two years ago
and he called himself a pal.

old Al he is a quiet one,
he’s always soft to tread,
i didn't even notice him,
till things went missing from my head.

little things he took at first,
like dates and names and places.
but soon he stole much larger things,
like loved ones smiling faces.

i really wouldn’t mind so much,
had he just took my wealth.
but Al stole the one important thing...
he robbed me of myself.

he left my poor in memories,
but rich in sympathisers.
all his friends just call him Al
but his full name’s Alzheimer’sĀ
