An Autumn's Evening

Darkness begins to engulf the night,
I feel the warmth of the day begin to slip away again,
And the uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring washes over me,
This place offers little condolence, as that elated face comes to mind.
Although time has passed, that boisterous laugh still echoes in my mind,
The sonorous voice of the wind echoing in my ears,
Even the passing of time cannot ease the absence,
The swing sits intact as if untouched by time.
Time almost seems frozen here,
As if only yesterday we sat under the old oak tree, eating freshly baked pastries,
Listening to the voice of nature,
But that was many moons ago.
Memories that once offered comfort now fill me with anguish,
The notion of heaven's new angel leaves me torn,
Part of me hopes that they're in a better place more than life could have ever offered them,
Whilst the other, longs to see them one last time, so I may bid my final goodbyes.
