an ode to death

Oh Death
in crimson clad
she dances
the twilightÂ
soft and slow
so fair so brightÂ
to lead us onwardÂ
to the endless
endless starry night
a waltz with shadowsÂ
in the moon’s embrace
a memory of peaceÂ
where sorrows grow
in shadowed hallsÂ
of night she roams
a figure
draped in crimsonÂ
soft as dreams
her eyes
in darkened skiesÂ
they gleam
whispers in the windÂ
where sorrow foams
her cloak a river redÂ
with silent flow
enfolds the worldÂ
in tender velvet grace
a touch
a gentle touchÂ
upon the face
her beauty hauntingÂ
leaves a tender trace
and weary spirits
listen thus
as death sings
death sings her lullabyÂ
