AN OLD TIN CAN

AN OLD TIN CAN

So natures scavenging to keep alive
Ants eating beans in an old baked bean tin

What came before us I have pondered
Galactic source left in their wake
And beans we all scavenge upon
I’m guessing there was nothing left here
By them of any value
In their opinion when we arrived
Just lonely beans tossed away in an old tin can
Left to fester into life as we know it

Life is what we make it into now
But and if so is it all worth the effort
Will we learn from their mistakes?
To not just consume and throw away

Galaxies of tomato source
Of which all life can help build and make
And wallow in in harmony

From an ant and an ant colony
On a discarded bean in a

Universal old tin can.
