An Unwelcome Companion

Fingers gripped to knuckle white
heart hammers at wall of chest
waves of fight or flight in continuum
ashen skin denotes this test

Eyes a darting for escape
walls enclose in crushing space
emotions peak at petrified
and lips in last words begin to trace

The engines rumble and roar
Long metal tube gains speed to soar
rising high into the clouds
sweat exhales from every pore

War of nerves in battle to beat
meditation and tapping for anxiety confuse
resting on the rails of nothing
helps to be a fooling mind's ruse

Faint heart embrace and chase the 'fear'
bring on turbulence at its worst
Know you're travelling at the safest
let irrational fear be cursed

Float high on thoughts of joy to have
In lands far off, World sights abound
and even with an unwelcome companion 'fear'
together in ecstasy will land safe upon the ground

I've learned that fear limits you and your vision. It serves as blinders to what may be just a few steps down the road for you. The journey is valuable, but believing in your talents, your abilities, and your self-worth can empower you to walk down an even brighter path. Transforming fear into freedom - how great is that?

Thankyou Dean this is a personal fear of mine. But I've decided to fly again in about 8 weeks. I so want to free myself of this fear I'm definitely going to face it. :)
