an urgent poem
(for the heroes in times of covid)

don’t give up!
do it for yourself
do it for all of us
please, don’t give up
no effort is too little
if the life of one of us
is compromised
do it with love and joy
no effort is too little
if the whole world needs
some loving and
some compassion
commit and do what is right
fight the good cause
even though the work hours
are long and exhausting
life is always beautiful and
to live is urgent
to love is urgent
the whole world is in urgent need
of a kind heart like yours
rest if you must, cry if you can
as long as you don’t give up on
the sun rising, the rain falling
the trees still standing
the singing of birds
the peace of the elderly
the smile of thankful people
and
the goodness of your heart
to keep hope growing
like green grass
because if you did…
your post would be left uncovered
little would be left for us to win
as there would be one less
persevering
so please, don’t give up!
don’t abandon us

to the heroes that
(directly or indirectly)
have done as much as humanly possible
to save the life of their fellow men
WOW EDWIN!!....this is great in so many ways.....firstly, the kind heartedness required to think to write such a wonderful Tribute Poem.....for the front line workers that risk their lives.....Secondly, to deliver words that are so well phrased and powerfully insightful......and thirdly, to have the foresight to format this the way you did makes this piece even more memorable as it gives a VERY special flow to the whole of it!!.......ALL STARS & PINNED!!....I really wish the entirety of the world could read this poem!!....It truly resonates dear poet brother!!.....Bravo!!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo : )
Hi Tony Taylor :-)
Thank you very much, but the real merit is as you said, to the front liners, and the second, and the third ones, all of them. To all of them who are out there fighting and persevering for all of us..
More than 1,000 people died yesterday in the UK, that could be all my family put together, all my friends, the family of my friends, and the people who live in my street. I could be alone in the world, like thousands of people have died already (alone).
keep the good work going my friend, it's our duty
spread love
spread happiness
stop Covid from spreading
