Death And Blood (seducing the senses)

Death And Blood (seducing the senses)

It is in the odorific attraction of blood
That death begins to seduce her senses
She waited as long as her pulse would allow
But the pungent corpse helped crystallize her vow
And the stench was having an overwhelming effect
The veins on her neck began colorizing themselves
Like a revolution in thought, by Bertholt Brecht
Galileo came to her mind as scientists said
The evidence of the senses is yours to accept
She tore open the floor boards, began tasting his last breath
And it tasted much sweeter as he teetered on death
She could take it no longer, she ripped open his chest
Began sucking on his heart, her tongue was her knife
It was in this moment, when death did smell better than life
She recalled the words of her father, the very first vampire
If she didn't follow her instincts, she'd be doomed to a life
As a blood thirsty liar...

So many things can be taken from this, to be relative, to inspire creation, to embrace uniqueness in the journey of design. Great read!!

In the midst of a gloriously bloody poetic narrative about a vampire...only YOU could treat us to that fantastically outre, completely off-the-wall reference to Brecht's Life of Galileo!! I love it!!!!

Gory, vivid, bloodthirsty (but no liar!!)...magnificent!!

Hello brother!
If I have to die (and I have to) I wouldn't mind going in a way where "when death did smell better than life". I adore this line, and the rest, of course :)
Very well done!
Love,
Dario

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,

I've written a "Three Penny Opera"

About the "Transylvania Twist"

If you read between it's profound lines

You'll comprehend it's gist

It's about the Countess Dracula

Who inherited "A Bloody Fortune"

But the will was just a colloquialism

She starves each night for her "Bloody Portion"

Peace, Love and Rockets,

Hi Tony,

When I penned the first line "I've written a Three Penny Opera", I was referring to Bertholt Brecht, who you mention in your poem, and who wrote it.  I was trying to be possibly a little too esoteric with my poetic response.  Sometimes I can get pretty far out there.  Maybe if you reread my response, you'll see where I was going with that.

Peace, Love and Rockets,

Larry
