Poem -

and don't you forget

I don't need you

Like you need me

Just hearing my voice makes you feel faint,

Shattering your thickest walls

In a whispering sigh, my voice thunders above your racing heart

Let's play hide and seek in the sound of thunder

Learn to read the stars in the palm of my hand

When you say you know me best but you haven't even figured yourself out

Truth be told you've only caressed the tip of the oceans depth

Make flowers sprout in my lungs,

Pushing my sad out

Maybe I confuse the flowers for weeds for they curl around my lungs and won't let me breathe

I won't let your fingers reach up and tangle themselves in my hair, screeching to knot their way inside where the shards of broken glass are

I won't let you play puppetΒ

I will not let your mouth tumble sweet, unfulfilled promises into mine, for I belong to myself

I am my own burning star in the center of my own universe Β
