Poem -

And Yet

her expression, all at once despondent, yet content
turbulent, yet peaceful

the weight of her thoughts
bear down on strong shoulders
yet with a bounce in her step
as though she always has somewhere to be
but with feet that refuse to take her

she's a conundrum, even to herself
self-assured, yet trapped by her perceived shortcomings
a plexus waiting to erupt under self-imposed burdens

under her skin, a universe, untapped
unmarred by social guise and the inevitable divots of time

and yet

she views herself as though a reflection
rather than a prism
waiting for the sun
