Angels surrender

My angel tried to save me.

She fought the monsters well.

But she couldn't stop the demon,

In his sugar-coated hell.

My angel battled daily,

For her own imprisoned soul.

She clung to pleasure and the pain,

And the promises he stole.

Her wings were clipped, her halo dimmed.

Her undoing was complete.

She ceased to fight, in fetal calm,

And surrendered in defeat.

My angel learned to hide her pain

And embraced her gilded hell. 

For despite her best intentions,

She was a monster now herself...
