Annabel

~~
In the time of the moonbeams light
Darkest moments in the night
The hound it howls for who can tell
could it be his mistress My Annabel?
Â
Stood in a haze beside the hill
Silent lovely perfectly still
In the misty common beside the fell
Is it the mistress My Annabel?
Â
The lightened vapors round her swirl
Her shape is that of a lovely girl
I have searched the meadows and the dell
To find once again My Annabel
Â
It must be trickery of the dark
Tormenting my broken grieving heart
Inside my head the visions rave
My Annabel lies in her lonely grave
Â
The wind finds gaps in bedroom shutters
And its ghostly wails it utters
When the cold nights chills my bones
My Anabel again comes home
Â
In the portrait on the wall
My Anabel stares down the hall
She sees the torments of my hell
My beloved lovely Annabel
.
The moon is hidden by a passing cloud
My Annabel standing in her ghostly shroud
A wind it wails with spectral sound
My Annabel fades no more to be found
