Another Chance

Another Chance

Another chance to learn this dance and treat this life as new.

My world had gone from gray to black, but now the sky is blue.

A string of painful memories had changed the girl I was.

I could not face reality if I didn’t have a buzz.

“When had my world turned upside down? I’ve allowed myself to fall.”

So many lame excuses - I took a drink for them all.

When I reached the bottom, I was forced to feel the pain,

And accept that in my life there will be many bouts of rain.

Living in the clouds had tricked my thinking and my sight.

But as I slowly faced reality, I began to see a light -

A light of peace that shined with hope, and urged me to succeed.

It cleared my eyes and showed me who it was I’m meant to be.

The past does not define me and my life is fresh and new.

My world had gone from gray to black, but now the sky is blue.
