Another Day

Mother's Day

Another Day

I'm happy that it's Mother's Day but wish there'd been more time.
Because another year has passed without a hug for mine.
And yet, within the scheme of things, does it matter much,
If the only price we've had to pay is just the loss of touch?
My heart is full of gratitude, yet heavy with the thought
Of all the heartbreak, grief and pain that this pandemic wrought.
We're lucky, we all made it through, came out the other side.
No words convey the thankfulness I feel that we're alive.
So though we cannot hug just yet, it really is okay
Because we'll get to hug again, we'll get another day.
