Poem -

Anticlockwise

All of the lights around the fireside

Flicker and fade.

All of the lights around the fireside turn to grey.

All of the stars in the moonlit sky

Don't appear to get the ending right.

They rush their destruction, their final rewrite.

All of the faces staring at the ground,

Open mouthed and hollow eyed.

Another night, another lover denied.

All of the ash splintering the floor,

Hiding new stories amongst the old.

Burying tales untold.

All of the daises sewn into the lawn,

Trampled and broken.

Camouflaged beauty, forever unspoken.

All of the wonder in this world has gone astray.

Glitter turned to soil.

Self expression in turmoil.

But our world is different from theirs,

Our world sparkles whilst their world stares.

Our spirit keeps this world spinning,

Honey, our world is only just beginning.
