Poem -

ANXIETY ?

A heard of wild horses,

go galloping through my chest.

They keep me up all night,

Forbidding me to rest.

A scarf that is invisible,

wraps around my face,

It smothers me and chokes me,

Never slipping out of place.

Pains stab through me

At a frightening rate,

As the vice squeezes ever tighter,

Convincing me of my fate.

The terror never leaves me,Β

It's with me day and night,

No one can understand my battle,

Unless they've fought this fight.

At times I dream of death,

To take this curse away,

But thenΒ I look at my children,

And i live to fight another day.Β

I no longer suffer from anxiety Terry but i was diagnosed with acute anxiety disorder years ago and I will never forget the horror of living through it. It was my toughest battle in life so far. You can overcome it, it just takes time. I maybe should have titled it reflecting on anxiety.
