Arrow Hearts

You like to see me hurt
You like to see me bleed
With your cobra shaped teeth
You teach me how to be
It was only two weeks ago
When I saw your face
And I thought
I couldn't let you go
I fell straight away into your dark brown eyed ways
I'd been around the bend once or twice
Deciding that I knew how to take care of myself
It was kind of nice
When you're feeling so low that you can't pick yourself up off the ground
When you feel the need to take those pills just to help yourself out
I was one of them
Alone and down
But I told myself
There is no need to frown
But then I met you and that was when it all dawned:
"I think I love you," He whispered
As he pulled me close, "I want to be with you forever."
Yet he held over my head the ones that had me before
Telling me you can't turn a whore into a house wife with her wanting to explore
Wanting more
I twisted and turned and that was when the sun brokeĀ
He caused me a scar
I called it a hoax
It is not love when they push your mistakes in your face
It is not love when they hurt you with words and hold you in an embrace
It is not love when you are feeling like your heart is out for bait
Like a cobra on the prowl
I am a mouse
I am hiding
I am afraidĀ
You like it when I am with you
You like it so you can watch my every move
With your beautiful smile
And your pearly, straight teeth
I wish I was the one who could make you be set free
Let you loose of all your burdens
Let you free of all your pain
I would take your cross of addiction and nail myself to it with red stains
If only it was that easy
To destroy that type of loveĀ
That type of want
That type of codeine in your blood
It hurts me to see you struggle
Seeing you hide your needĀ
And making my eyes blind to its rubble
Your body, it trembles
And my heart, it flutters
To know I am falling in love with a beautiful sadness
That is bound to be us
It is tragic...
