Asylum seekers!

Asylum seekers!

If  you could fish my body out of the water and

fill your fishing nets with our fear, our wounds,

stiff legs, blue and frozen feet and open eyes

If you could take our children out of the water,

out of our arms.

We are from Afghanistan.Iraq, Libya, Syria.

We will arrive to European shores dirty, bloated,

dead with no name.

You will call us a tragedy, a terrible tragedy

so be at peace with yourselves.

My unfortunate journey is my own greed,

 my want, my ignorance.

But please fish my dead body out

of the water,

Bury it wherever you like.

Do not mention our names,

just call us a tragedy.

Do not visit the places where we come from

Do not dare to see!

I do not want you to change your mind

and call our floating corpses your crime

Loud and clear message, nicely penned in a pleading manner, its disgusting how asylum seekers are treated, unspeakable suffering, how humans can call themselves human at all treating people the way they do, its so shameful and beyond sad, not to mention those poor detainees kept in cages like animals promises of being relocated years later still standing behind the bars they thought would bring them freedom, sick world we live in.
much love nardine xoxo
