At the Pier

At the Pier

At the pier

at night

you come to visit me

by my calm black sea.

When the streets sleep and

the birds rest and

only mangled beings are out

you come to visit me.

And you shudder under

the sleety weep of the sky.

At the pier

you get on a misty boat and

shake in your cape.

Your arms fastened to the oars

break the moon's bobbing diamonds.

Your skin finally peels.

At the pier

at night

you come to visit me

two glistening fins in the dark water.
