Autism (for Jake)

Autism (for Jake)

Water bubbles and balls
Toys binkies and straws
Bang on the walls
Making nonverbal calls

Swing run and climb
Teach me how to sign
Know few words,
One of them "mine"

Cover my ears
Lack all fears
Underdeveloped
For my years

I'm active and strong
Outside where I belong
Beat my chest
Like King Kong

Bubble Guppies and Octonauts
The stove is hot
I probably should not
Well maybe I won't get caught

They locked the knifes
I'm one of many lives
This buzzing
Sounds like bee hives

Don't grab my fist
My minds in a twist
Trying to resist
The voices that exist

In my head
In my bed
While I'm fed
I want them dead

That's why I hit
That's why I bit
Don't make me sit
I have good whit

Hold my hand
As I lead to land
Let me commanded
To skin boldly tanned

I'm stronger than I look
I don't care for a book
Look at that
A chandelier hook

Up I go
Or across I throw
Maybe even a blow
I know the word "no"

But you don't see
It's hard to be me
This struggle I face
An endless sea
