AUTUMN IS UPON US

The summer season is over
The warms days have been and gone
Autumn is upon us
Now the cold shall run
The grass will relinquish colour
Tinged in yellow ream
The emeralds will wither to citrine
And bring in the sporadic autumn rains
To wash away our mortal sins
The trees shall shed their colour
Emeralds turn to copper
And flutter to the floor
The wind will pick them up
And you won’t see them anymore
The skies will get much darker
Earlier than before
The street lights come on earlier
Now summer shut her doors
The wind will blow much colder
Sending shivers down your spine
Extra clothing needed
And some nice warm mulled wine
To warm you from the inside
The wildlife knows autumn is upon them
They busily gather their supplies
Squirrels high above
Gather nuts
And then in their holes
they’ll hide
Birds in graceful wing, Shall wonder
As they begin to migrate
And in the pale of grey above us
Birds will separate and
Murmuration will take place
And in the sky above us
pretty patterns they will make
They fly in military formation
To warmer climates new
And their they’ll stay till next year
And return when skies are blue
The new day shall bring dew drops
they settle in spiders web
and their they’ll hang like diamonds
as the day does ebb
the cold will bring in spiders
in your home they will hide
their looking for a mate
another with eight eyes
The morning frost shall covet
The ground like powdered ice
And underneath your window sill
Stalagmites shall hide
You know when autumn is upon us
When the morning grass crunches under foot
You slip and slide and lose your footing
And end up on your butt
Puddles are no longer puddles
Instead mini icing rinks
Where you walk through before
Now you’d stop and think
