Azure Heart of Carmine

How her eyes wander

As if to cut into the textures of the

Life and times of her now ashen world

She draws into her airway the smoke

Of yet another Rothmans Blue

Sighing exhalation

Christ, I love her so

She hates us all so much

Abhors the morose existence she is subject to

Wishing for her end, her precious hand so beautifully pale

Small, yet stretched wide open to

The very limits of her fragility

Ferocity

My whole heart is rent in the dark of night

To watch, behold her in the throes

Of troubled, bitter sleep

To know my mettle to be meaningless

To know her plight to be my own

And that forbidden, yet alluring weapon that means

Annihilating love of others

Gleams like torchlight in black labyrinths

Burns me to cinders

For all my benevolence

Salvation may elude her always, here

But I cannot help but follow.
