Baby Brother

Baby Brother

Baby brother why do you lie there?
Your face as pale as a sheet,
In your little box, as those around you weep,
Eyes tightly shut as if you are in a deep sleep.

Baby brother why does your little box lie in a pit?
Your teddy is your only campaign in that box,
Why are you now sealed under a layer of dirt?
You should be up here laughing and crawling around.

Baby brother can't you see mommy is upset?
When will you wake up? Supper is getting cold.
Baby brother although it has been years, the memory of you has not faded,
It has only strengthened with time.
