BABY GIRL LEFT TO DIE

During 
the Stalin Era
in the
1940's
There was 
a Terrible
Famine
In the Soviet Union
Many families
died of Starvation

On a Cold Winter
Morning 
in late December 1942
A Mother 
made the heartbreaking
decision
to leave her newborn
baby girl
in the forest to die
There was simply
not enough food
for the family
to survive....

Soon after
the mother's 
older daughter
who was 9 at the
time
Discovered
what her mother
had done....

Overcome
 with grief
the older
daughter
went to 
the forest
and found
the infant child
still alive
next to a tree

The older daughter
returned to her
home with the 
infant
and pleaded with
her mother
to give her
own food 
rations
to the baby
so she could
live....
The Baby girl
survived.....

Today I know
the baby girl
as "Liubov"
My mother in law
the Mother
of my Soul Mate

what could
