Back in the old days

When we were young we played outside
There was no mobile phone
I used to walk ages to the telephone kiosk and I did this on my own
There wasnāt any computers,
Only pen & paper at our schools
But we still managed to learn alot
We certainly are no fools
We had to amuse ourselves
not like the children of today
Parents listen to their young
alot more now I have to say
Maybes that is a good thing tho,
We were just left to go out allday
You couldnāt get in the road of your parents in any way
It was āSpeak if you are spoken toā
& All your elders were respected
But kids today they have no fear,
This respect is not reflected
Toys were so different thenĀ
Its lots of hand-held gadgets today
I recall playing with elastic bands
Must have cost very little for us to play
Our era had no dangers,
The world was a safer place
which meant we could go out ourselves
We had unlimited space
I hear myself saying all the things my parents said to me
Like ā Eeh our world was better when we were young, it was a nicer spot to beā
They say history repeats itself
I donāt believe thats true
The world has become more technicalĀ
It is very computerised too
Nothing stays the same for long
Technology is growing fast,
Though things they madeĀ in the old days
Well they were made to last
Ā
